The truth is we are not all in it together. Most people, and in particular politicians, are in it for themselves.
Cabinet Reshuffle.
The cabinet reshuffle was akin to rearranging boiled eggs on a plate. You look away for a minute and when you look back it's impossible to spot the changes. The move that should have been made, in the interests of the nation, but was never going to be made was the sacking of the chancellor. Osborne, a man who managed to turn the happy clappy environment of the Olympic stadium into a booing, hissing sea of malcontent, just by his presence. If you add to that, Cameron's similar treatment as he tried to bask in the reflected glory of the GB Paralympic team and I now feel we are getting our moneys worth with the Olympics.
The reshuffle was an exercise in moving a bunch of haters and liars from one comfy chair in Whitehall to another. Grant Shapps, now he has enacted his Daily Mail Law on squatting that will force thousands of people out onto the streets, possibly leading to many deaths is now Chief Bull***ter in General. Jeremy Hunt, Murdoch's man at the ministry is now Murdoch's man in a different ministry. We now have a Health Secretary who is not only accused of being mendacious but also wants to reduce the time limit for abortions down to 12 weeks from 24 weeks. A climate change denier is now in charge of the environment. Baroness Warsi was probably sacked because she is northern and working class so naturally the Tories made her redundant. Andrew Mitchell, who's nickname is 'thrasher', apparently due to his predilection for imposing discipline on teenage boys when he was Head of House at Rugby School, is now Chief Whip. I think Osborne was really keen on that move.I expect they will have quite a few one on one meetings. Chris Grayling, a man who is renown for finding the truth and facts incredibly tiresome and who apparently considers homophobia to be a perfectly acceptable practise is now Justice Minister, no,really, I'm not making it up! David Laws, a man who defrauded the taxpayer of £40000 through obtaining money by deception has been reinstated to the government. I just hope David Laws doesn't have to sit next to Grayling in many meetings. What with Laws being gay and the defrauding thing.
Some ministers have retained their roles. Eric Pickles remains in the Communities ministry because without removing the roof and hiring a crane they can't get him out. Theresa May, who always reminds me of a storm trooper from Star Wars who has just removed its helmet is to continue working for the evil empire as Home Secretary. Pob is staying as Education Secretary ( type Gove/pob into your search engine. You will smile, I promise). And of course The With Finder General Ian Duncan Smith has refused to relinguish his grip on his fiery burning torch of redemption. I expect he told Cameron that "the Lords mission was not complete and that he could not rest until the land had been cleansed of all
Where's my fiery burning torch of redemption?
