What is almost as shocking is the complicity between the hunters, the police and the government. The hunters are given virtual impunity to go about their business of not only slaughtering thousands of migrating birds but breaking law after law by killing protected species, attacking campaigners, damaging and burning cars as well as burning down the houses of the people who campaign against the slaughter.
The hunting fraternity is a close knit community, which I think we will all agree, is just a polite description for in-bred, but they are continually allowed to continue the slaughter by corrupt police officers and corrupt government officials.
To highlight the level of criminality these hunters are allowed to get away with, I give you an example of a nature reserve on Malta and what happened to it:
- The wildlife warden was shot through the head.
- Hunters attempted to break in and shoot the birds, including flamingo's
- Oil was thrown into the lake.
- A wooden plank, with nails, was placed in the car park so that employers and visitors would puncture their tyres.
- All the trees on the reserve were cut down.
- The wardens house was burnt down.
These are just a few examples of the depravity these butchers will sink to. And all without fear of arrest.
The complicity in the slaughter is international as well. The European Union does nothing even though Malta has broken it's EU directive on birds. Unsurprisingly, The British Government washes it hands of the subject, mainly because members of the British government are themselves involved in the slaughtering of birds as a pastime, and for profit, which has lead to many illegal poisonings and shootings, in Britain, of protected raptors such as hen harriers.
The majority (60%) of the Maltese public are against the hunting but are denied a referendum by the government who are continually lobbied by the hunting community. A classic example of when money talks. Much of the slaughter takes place on common land where the general public are allowed to camp yet there are examples of where hunters have called the police and the police have forcibly removed the campers. Now that's a classic case of abuse of power and corruption, yet the government does nothing other than allow the butchery to continue.

The Bird Murdering Scum of Britain.
In this time of austerity Prime Minister Cameron as decided to alleviate the suffering of the landed gentry by freezing the cost of a shot gun licence at £50. It costs the police about £200 to carry out background checks on anybody applying for a shotgun license which means Cameron's openly preferential treatment of his land owning chums is costing the taxpayer about £20 million a year.
It good news for the landowners though, because they can now spend the money Cameron has handed them on poisons so they can continue to wipe out all the, supposedly, protected raptors and other wild animals that they consider affect their fun and their bottom lines.

Full Employment.
Two weeks ago, The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, stated boldly, that full employment could be achieved in Britain. He could not, however, explain how this nirvana could be created. I have discovered his plan.
He intends to put the entire nation on a zero hours contract. Genius! Unemployment removed at a stroke.
Right Wing Whitehall Bigotry.
The news that offensive comments, that have been posted on the 'Hillsborough 96' website, originated from a computer within Whitehall is not really surprising. If you wanted an archetypal example of a bastion of right wing reactionary bigotry then Whitehall and the Civil Service would be at the top of most peoples lists. It is an attitude that is not just exclusive to the Civil Service. It pervades all areas of the establishment and the ruling elite. Two more examples being London Mayor, Boris Johnson's accusations that people from Liverpool 'were hooked on grief' and 'wallowed in their victim status' and the lies that were printed by The Sun, the day after the tragedy.
The white ruling class of Britain spends it time wallowing, knee deep, in a swamp of racism and bigotry, on a daily basis. The comments made about the Hillsborough victims are just one more example of the instituationalised bigotry and ignorance, that is endemic throughout the higher echelons of British society.
Some Questions for Manchester United fans.
The class of 92 were a success but what happened to the class of 93,94,95,96,....01,04,07..........etc, and
if, while Giggs is manager, Manchester United get hammered, will Giggs take out a super injunction to stop the papers printing the score.
